The food we eat really has a significant impact on our moods! Research shows that a highly refined, high-sugar, high-additive and an ultra-processed diet especially can lead to low mood and mental health issues. This happens through several mechanisms. This includes activating reward centres of the brain, compromising the digestive function and gut health and negative effects on the immune and nervous systems. WHO IS THIS FOR? This course is for anyone who wants the knowledge of how to improve their diet to help themselves to feel healthier and happier. If you are ready to take charge of your food to change your mood, then this course is for you! WHAT WILL I LEARN? Workshop 1 - The Gut-Brain Connection Workshop 2 - Creating New Healthy Habits Workshop 3 - Healthy Eating on a Budget Workshop 4 – Putting It All Together You will learn how and why to choose foods that support your wellbeing and feed good gut bacteria, so you can take more control of your moods and mental health. Doing this course will enable you to: -Have a better understanding of your own body and its response to different foods. -Understand food labels. -Use simple tips and strategies to help you make healthier food and lifestyle choices and prepare meals that support gut and brain health. -Use new tools to add to your mental health toolkit. -Feel more empowered to take control of your own health and wellbeing HOW CAN I USE WHAT I LEARN? You will identify some simple changes that don't require a lot of effort, time or money. You don’t need to be perfect all the time! But being consistent is important and small consistent changes can make a big difference to your mental and physical health and wellbeing.
