Practical ways to use food and lifestyle to improve all aspects of wellbeing. Food and nutrition are always in the news and this is often changing. So, it can be challenging to know what to do. This session will help you understand some basic nutrition science and then use the information in daily life. WHO IS THIS FOR? This is for anyone who would like to understand more about how food and lifestyle can be used to improve men’s daily health and reduce the risk of health issues that are more likely to affect them. *Please note that personal advice cannot be given in the session. If you take medications or have any health conditions, then you are advised to consult with your doctor before making any changes. WHAT WILL I LEARN Talking about food is always exciting, and we will look at how to enjoy healthy food with simple recipes and shopping tips. You will learn about some of the food and aspects of your lifestyle, e.g., exercise, sleep, and relaxation, can influence your daily life and long-term health. Food and lifestyle can affect how we feel and how much energy we have across the day. In the longer term this may also help to reduce the risk of some ‘Western diseases’ like diabetes type 2, heart issues, and some cancers. HOW CAN I USE WHAT I LEARN? We hope you will feel more confident about choosing and preparing foods that support your health and wellbeing. You should feel more confident too about reading food labels, planning simple meals, and understanding where to get more useful food and nutrition information. You are invited to bring food labels and restaurant menus to the session and we can use these for discussion.
