Course / Workshop Content
Who is this for? This course is designed for anyone who wants to better understand the impact of the menopause on our physical, emotional and mental health. It is particularly relevant for individuals experiencing menopause themselves and for professionals and anyone who is supporting or caring for someone experiencing the menopause. What will I learn? Across two sessions, we will explores the psychological and emotional aspects of menopause, alongside the biological changes that influence all aspects of our wellbeing and especially our mental health. We will look at common mental health presentations during perimenopause and menopause, including anxiety, low mood, depression, brain fog, and changes in confidence or identity. The course will also cover the interaction between hormones and mental health, and the social and cultural context that shapes menopausal experiences. Evidence-based approaches to support, communication, and signposting will be discussed throughout. How can I use what I learn? You will gain practical knowledge to recognise menopausal symptoms related to your mental and emotional health and have strategies for managing these – either alone or with a health practitioner. What we learn can be applied in clinical practice, workplace settings, or informal, supportive conversations. You will also be better equipped to advocate for appropriate adjustments, treatment options, and supportive environments that protect your mental wellbeing during the menopause transition and afterwards.
