Course / Workshop Content

WHO IS THIS FOR? This course is for anyone who wishes to learn about adverse childhood experiences (ACE) and their impact on our lives and life chances. Whether you are a person affected or family member, key worker or carer, this course can help you understand what ACE’s are and how the past can be very present in someone’s life well after the time they are originally experienced. WHAT WILL I LEARN? You will learn about the different types of adversity and how they have a negative impact on someone’s life. Also, how certain experiences are more present in someone’s life than others and how they impact the person’s ability to relate to themselves, others, and to the world. We will start to identify triggering events or situations and find ways to create some space for us to explore ways to support ourselves or others in distress. HOW CAN I USE WHAT I LEARN? Ups and downs in life can bring with them high powerful emotions and some are easier to manage than others. Having a good understanding of how complex childhood experiences can have an impact our behaviours, ways of thinking and approach to life, can help us to begin to leaving the past behind and take small steps forwards.
