Who is this for? This workshop is designed for anyone who has experienced trauma themselves or would like to know more about supporting others who have experienced this. We will do this in a “trauma informed manner”. Whether you are generally curious or ready to find new strategies to improve your life, this workshop offers valuable insights and strategies to help build positive coping skills. We cover the main principles of trauma, how it impacts our nervous system, the different trauma responses and how we might behave as a result of trauma. We then will focus on strategies to find respite in spite of having experience a traumatic event and to begin to gain the confidence to experience the world once more. What will I learn? This transformative workshop offers practical strategies and coping mechanisms to help students manage triggers and enhance their daily wellbeing. You will learn about the working of our bodies, nervous system and brain in relation to trauma. You will explore different manifestations and ways of thinking because of trauma and how to support yourself in moments of needs. Our goal is to complement your healing journey with additional support and learning however it is important to note that the workshop is not a substitute for professional therapy or medical advice. How can I use what I learn? The skills and knowledge gained from this workshop can be applied in many aspects of daily life, including greater awareness of anticipating and managing triggers, ways to build confidence and increase your resilience. By providing deep insights and tailor-made practical skills, it aims to light the way for students, guiding them toward increasing resilience, understanding, and empowerment.
