Course / Workshop Content

A two-part course exploring men’s emotional wellbeing and how we can better support ourselves and others. Who is this for? This course is for men who want to understand their own mental health more deeply, and for anyone supporting a man — a friend, partner, colleague, or family member — who may be finding things difficult. It’s open, supportive, and inclusive, with space for honest conversation and reflection in a relaxed environment. What will I learn? Session 1 – Understanding Men’s Mental Health We’ll explore the unique pressures men face and why it can be hard to talk about emotions or seek help. Together, we’ll look at: • Social and cultural expectations around masculinity • How stress, isolation, and silence impact wellbeing • Common signs that someone may be struggling • The importance of connection, vulnerability, and healthy coping Session 2 – Reaching Out and Finding Support In this practical session, we’ll focus on what helps — for ourselves and for others. We’ll explore: • How to start supportive conversations and listen effectively • Where to find help and local/national resources • Everyday habits that strengthen mental wellbeing • Building confidence to reach out or respond when someone opens up • Each session combines gentle discussion, real-world examples, and evidence-based insights — creating a safe space for reflection and shared understanding. How can I use what I learn? You can use what you learn to take better care of your own mental wellbeing, support friends, family, or colleagues who may be struggling, and help create a culture where it’s easier for men to talk openly about how they feel.
