Course / Workshop Content
Who is this for? This two-part course is designed for anyone living with chronic pain, as well as those supporting someone with chronic pain. It will help you to better understand the lived experience of pain and develop kinder, more sustainable ways of coping and living well alongside it. What will I learn? You will learn practical strategies and tools to help you manage pain more effectively and increase joy and fulfilment, even when pain is present. Part 1 - Explores the cycle of chronic pain and its emotional impact, including grief and loss. You will learn about protective factors, energy budgeting, and how to establish a realistic baseline that supports pacing and helps you refocus on activities that matter to you, despite pain. Part 2 - Focuses on developing skills to work with unhelpful thinking patterns, relate to pain with greater compassion and mindfulness, reconnect with your values, and notice positive experiences without minimising or dismissing real difficulties. How can I use what I learn? You will be able to apply these tools in everyday life to pace yourself more effectively, reduce self-criticism, respond to pain with greater compassion, and make intentional choices that support wellbeing and quality of life — even when pain is present
